Sharp today announced that they have shipped samples of a 15.6inch IGZO LCD panel compatible with 4K2K (3,840×2,160dot) for notebook PCs for the first time. They will start manufacturing in February 2014.
They could make the 4K2K panel for notebook PCs successfully by using miniaturized thin film transistors (TFT) and IGZO technology that increases light transmission. In addition to that, it is expected that IGZO’s energy saving feature creates a synergy effect allowing the battery life of the notebook PCs to be able to run longer.
Sharp will be showing the panel at “CEATEC JAPAN 2013” – the biggest electronics exhibition in Asia – that will take place at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan, near Tokyo, from October 1 to October 5.
