In the last year alone, the 3D format has seen a resurgence thanks to films including Jurassic World, The Martian, Ant-Man, Mad Max: Fury Road, San Andreas, Terminator Genisys , and Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, to name a few.  Still to come in 2015 are highly-anticipated films such as The Peanuts Movie, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and In The Heart of the Sea.

“The sky didn’t fall when we launched with Chicken Little in 2005, instead it opened up a whole new world of 3D possibilities for consumers,” said RealD co-founder and chief executive officer Michael V. We are enormously grateful to our partners in exhibition and production and to the movie going public who experienced a RealD 3D movie over 1.5 billion times.”

Chicken Little debuted at #1 in the North American marketplace taking in $40 million and tying with The Lion King (1994) as the largest opening ever at that time for a Disney animated film.
