Epic 3D Film Bags Multiple Oscar Awards

This year, like every year, sees the best of the industry being honoured with the gold statuette. Ang Lee’s ‘Life of Pi’ is bagged with a nomination count of 11.

The biggest winner of the night, ‘Life of Pi’ emerged with four titles to its name namely:

 

  • Best Direction – Ang Lee for ‘Life of Pi’.
  • Best Music – Original Score – Mychael Danna for ‘Life of Pi’.
  • Best Visual Effects – ‘Life of Pi’ – Bill Westenhofer, Guillaume Rocheron, Erik-Jan De Boer and Donald R. Elliott
  • Best Cinematography – Claudio Miranda for ‘Life of Pi’

 

Cinematography and visual effects Oscar wins for “Life of Pi” vindicate the patience and perseverance of filmmakers who were told for years that Yann Martel’s 2001 novel was unfilmable.

 

“It’s a large-scale epic adventure (and) truly very difficult to do, and probably not possible to do, until we had the latest technology available today,” Fox 2000 prexy Elizabeth Gabler told Variety in June.

 

‘Life of Pi’ in indeed one of the many epic films in the industry given real and figurative life by its 3D technology. Read more here.
