GoPro Hero 2 Goes Pro

It’s no surprise with the soon to be released upgrade for the GoPro Hero2 that many are getting ready with new after market upgrades to this amazing little camera. And I call it little only referring to its size, certainly not its capabilities.

The firmware upgrade which was announced at NAB this year will add Protune Mode to the camera. Enabling this mode will give you a true matchable Pro grade camera with 35Mpbs recording and the ability to shoot at 24fps. The camera already features (see image below):

It also records with a Color Neutral Profile. This allows you to use the new Technicolor created features that let you match your GoPro to almost any other camera.

The Hero 2 is no slouch, even before this upgrade, as seen in this test footage of a Muay Thai Boxing match. It was shot at 720/60 and when you slow down the speed in post, you get sweet slo-mo. That brings us to an announcement that I received from Radiant Images. The company has done interesting custom work on the camera and come up with a way to add improved lenses and a locked down HDMI output plug . They will be showcasing the camera mods at Cine Gear Expo.
