Harkness Screens, the world’s leading manufacturer of projection screens for cinema applications, have been selected as the screen supplier of choice for the RAI Auditorium, the 2009 IBC main presentation venue. RAI Auditorium has a seating capacity of 1000 and will feature a 16.70-meter by 7-meter Harkness Spectral 240 3D screen as well as a 16.70-meter by 7-meter Perlux 180 Harkness screen.
Over the years, Harkness Screens have been used at the IBC convention. The Spectral 240 will be used to show the latest 3D imaging techniques in real time, using real-world content, in a real cinematic environment. It will project RealD 3D and master image 3D while the Perlux 180 will be used for digital 2D projection and Dolby 3D projection. The screens will be interchanged accordingly based on the requirements of the presentation.
Harkness Spectral 240 3D screens are trusted by cinema exhibitors and special venue operators worldwide to be the optimum 3D projection surface for systems using polarised light. The Spectral 240 provides superior gain characteristics with a very low depolarization level (extinction ratio), excellent colour temperature and generous viewing angles. Seams on the Spectral 240 are invisible under normal projection conditions.
