NAB Update: Adorama Is First to Show Samsung’s New 4K 85-inch Display

The Samsung S9 is the company’s only 4K, 85-inch display currently in the United States

Las Vegas, NV – April 8, 2013 – Adorama, one of the world’s largest photography, imaging and electronics retailers, is showcasing the new Samsung S9, its newest 4K, 85-inch display, at the NAB show in Las Vegas this week. This is Samsung’s only display of this size and format in the United States right now.

This year marks Adorama’s debut at the NAB show, a move to showcase the company’s extensive offerings for professional video equipment and services. Adorama has a long history of offering cutting-edge technology that caters to improving industry professionals’ workflow. As 4K emerges in the marketplace, video pros will require it to create new content, enhancing their process from production all the way through presentation. Technology’s early adopters also know to depend on Adorama to provide access to the newest technology available faster than other retailers. In addition, Adorama continues its growth as a leading destination for home theaters as emerging consumer and high-end, 4K displays will be carried by the retailer.

“It’s extremely important to us at Adorama to earn our customers’ trust by always offering the newest products and technology. We ensure that enthusiasts are able to have the ultimate experience when it comes to purchasing large-format 4K monitors from Samsung and, as Adorama is the official retailer of the New York Giants, viewing important events like the 2014 Superbowl happening in New York,” says Ahron Schachter, President of Business Development and Merchandising for Adorama.

The Samsung S9 (Samsung UN85S9) boasts a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels, which is roughly four times that of a regular 1920 x 1080 HD display, giving the 4K moniker to this Ultra HD product. Its extremely thin profile is supported on an easel-like frame, which houses the speakers and allows the screen to be tilted for better viewing. The S9 also offers full-array local dimming backlight, a feature lacking in other displays in this category. Full-array local dimming backlight allows increased contrast to more areas in the screen, making blacks blacker and brights brighter, and creating a significantly higher-quality picture.

The Samsung S9 4K 85-inch display will be available later in the year. Adorama will be offering options for acquiring this exclusive item either through lease, or financing through Adorama’s forthcoming credit program. Visitors can find Adorama at NAB in booth C7412, in the Acquisition & Production area of the Central Hall at the Las Vegas Convention Center, April 8-11, 2013.
