Prepare for 3D Laughter with Safety Geeks: SVI

I feel that I must warn you to hold on to your sides and get ready for bursts of uncontrollable spontaneous laughter as you watch “Safety Geeks: SVI“. From the comedic minds of Tom Konkle and Dave Beeler comes a hilarious send up of all those forensic crime dramas. Safety Geeks: SVI tells the uproariously funny story of the P.O.S.H. (Professional Occupational Safety Hazard) Team as this slightly cracked investigative troupe helps protect the world from industrial accidents, while inadvertently creating a few of their own along the way.

The award-winning 3D series, Safety Geeks: SVI stars Brittney Powell, Tom Konkle, David Beeler, Steve Tom, Mark Teich, Mary Cseh, Frank Payne, Ransford Doherty, Chanel Ryan, Jim Woods and Benton Jennings. The show was awarded the “Best 3D Television Comedy” at the 2011 3D Film Festival in Los Angeles.

I met with Dave and Tom at the LA 3D Film Festival and the interview, seen below, confirmed what I suspected. These guys are legitimately funny! As they tell it on their website, ” It was 1999 when Dave first got his chocolate in Tom’s peanut butter, performing together in the seminal British comedy revue, Beyond the Fringe.” It was comedic love at first sight and ever since the pair has performed together in “Good Evening”, “Good Night”, “McFwap!”, “Double-Act” and of course, “Invention”, to name just a few.

They brought together a group of uniquely multi-talented artisans to create “Safety Geeks: SVI“. Much has been written and said about Tom and Dave and their alter egos, Budwin Yacker and Reginald Syngen-Smyth. I asked Tom and Dave to send me more information about their Co-Star Britney Powell and the creative team of Michael J. Smith, 3D and Visual Special Effects and Compositing and Thor Melsted (Post and VFX) behind Safety Geeks: SVI.

The 3D Blu-ray is available at Amazon.com and at Yabazam.

Brittney Powell stars as Dr. Randy Minki.

After being trotted around the globe with her military family, at the tender age of nineteen she was able to move to Hollywood to fulfill that dream. Almost immediately, Brittney caught the attention of Icon Entertainment and was cast as their leading actress in the ever popular coming of age film, “Airborne”, alongside Jack Black and Seth Green. As she blossomed as an actress, so did her list of “Six of Degrees of Kevin Bacon”. She began working with such accomplished Directors as TomHanks, Oliver Stone, and Rob Bowman. While enjoying the flexibility of working on both film and television, Brittney has been woo-ed by the likes of “Chandler” at “The Central Perk” in “Friends”. She caught the eye of “Charlie” on “Two and a Half Men”. She’s one of the few women on earth who can say that she has addressed both James Brolin and Robert Conrad as “Daddy”… While playing Mr. Brolin’s daughter on “Pensacola Wings of Gold”, and Mr. Conrad’s daughter on “High Sierra Search and Rescue”. And, Brittney was thrilled when, after working with television Icon Aaron Spelling, as a series regular on “Pacific Palisades”, he began repeatedly casting her as main characters on his other hit shows  Beverly Hills 90210”, and “Titans” until she was asked by the show’s producer, Chuck Pratt, to join him over on “General Hospital” for the contract role of “Summer”, playing on camera with Multi Daytime Emmy Winner Tony Geary.

And now, with New Media and Trans Media afoot, Brittney is finding new playgrounds to explore. Her award-winning, off its rocker, hit web series “Safety Geeks: SVI” has not only garnered awards throughout the web, amassed well over 14 million aggregate views worldwide, and enjoyed being touted the first live action 3D comedy series in the world, it has also … and waayyyyy more importantly… gained a fan in Mr. John Cleese himself, who has happily agreed to be in the “sequel”, which Brittney will not only be starring in, but producing as well.

Brittney believes that she works in the toy department of life… and that unicorns are real.  Close to my heart is the 3D on the production. Michael J. Smith created the 3D and Visual Special Effects and Compositing – Michael has been fusing artistry and technology in media for over a decade on screens ranging from iPods to 100-foot dome theaters.

Bringing a wizard-like mastery of film, digital media, theme park attractions and ground-breaking stereoscopic R&D to his various pursuits, Michael has led technical and visual effects work on the award-winning Safety Geeks 3D, the VES nominated Firebirds Across America and Flight of the Dragon, two large-format ride- films for Chinese theme park developer OCT, Ben 10: Race Against Time, for Cartoon Network, Journey to Madagascar for Universal Studio’s Singapore, Curse of the Darkastle for Busch Gardens, Who Killed the Idea for BMW Films Europe, title sequence work for CBS Television and Warner Brothers Television, NBC Sports, post/VFX work on commercials for  clients like ESPN, Toyota, Disney Interactive, Nintendo, Sega, iNDemand, and the Discovery Channel, in addition music videos, broadcast graphics packages, and short films. Michael Smith holds an animation degree from the Art Institute of Seattle.
