Samsung Smart TVs get ABC iView, BBC News and 3D video apps

Samsung have partnered with the ABC to bring their increasingly popular web catch-up television service, iView, to Smart TV’s and Blu-ray players.

Using the iView app, you can watch content from across the ABC’s channels including ABC3 and ABC News 24.

Thanks to the new BBC app, for the first time in Australia Samsung is offering customers access to “free up-to-date global news segments” that up until now only those subscribed to pay television have had access to.

It’s not only news available in-app though — according to Samsung, there’ll also be continuous content covering Business, Health, Sci/Environment, Tech, Entertainment, News in Video and Headlines.

And finally given the (current) lack of 3D content available for purchase in the Australian market, Samsung’s created its own ‘Explore 3D’ app that’ll allow you to watch 3D movie trailers, music videos, children’s classics, lifestyle videos and documentaries on-demand.

All the apps are available for from the Samsung Apps store today.
