Sony Promises a 3D Handheld in the Near Future

With all of these new advancements in 3D gaming, Sony being one of the front runners, Mike Hocking, Seinor Director of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios talked about the possibility of 3D coming to the PS Vista.

When asked about the possibility of 3D on PS Vita, Hocking said: “As you know our purpose at Sony is to build the world’s most awesome handheld games machine, and I think the focus – right now at least – is to build the most capable handheld games machine on the market. Of course in the future we may look to build the 3D experience on a handheld. The tech is rapidly evolving, so we may well in the future include a high-quality 3D experience on the small screens. Whether this comes to Vita will have to be seen.”

“We thought very long and hard internally about what sort of device we wanted to create, and I think it was very important to deliver such a capable device, and go dual-analogue. I think it’s gone down really well because it’s differentiated itself from the competition out there.”

Hocking was very firm about never letting on if the idea of 3D on the Vita was one Sony has been developing or turned down. Currently, it is at a “we might” or “we might not” status. However, it would be a fair assumption to assume that Sony has heard the praise of the Vita and heard the suggestions by many to add 3D to the mix. And if Sony wants to create the best handheld gaming system in the market they would be fools not to listen.
