Today’s 360 VR Buzz: Katherine series of Utra bright HDMI and SDI monitors from 250 EU

This was a very interesting BUZZ that I found today and wanted to share with you.

Ahead of the upcoming release of Fran 8K (by end of October), Cinemartin enters the market of Ultra High Brightness monitors with Katherine, a series of hyper-bright monitors, featuring 2500 NIT (cd/m2) of luminance, for real outdoor usage, for all kind of budgets, with all kind of features.

Katherine LT, the entry model has false color, focus assist, histogram, zebra, anamorphic modes and zoom among others. Katherine, the flagship model, has the waveform, RGB parade, LUT’s, and a chassis made from Fiber Carbon, available in two variants, spec1 (standard) and spec2 (forged).

Both models are compact and light. Use Full HD IPS displays at 1920 x 1200 pixels of native resolution, with the flagship model featuring 8+2 Bit FRC panels. Katherine also features mini-xlr power input connector, Ethernet (RJ45) as well as comes with V-Mount and Dual Sony NP-F battery plates.

All models have HMDI in/out and 3G – SDI in/out.

Katherine is available to order for 999,00 € and 1099,00 € for standard and forged fiber carbon with deliveries on end November.
Katherine LT is on stock for immediate delivery, available now at a special introductory price of just 250,95 € (retail’s 299.95 €).

What did an Ultra Brightness Monitors mean?
A monitor with more than 2000 NITs of luminance, means that the picture/video shown on the monitor can be viewed on sunny days outside, also shows you the colors more vivid.

How about the technology, why the prices are expensive on an Ultra Brightness monitor and how we get Katherine so affordable?
While in the first years of the decade the race on the pro. monitors were the resolution as the main goal, even demand for high brightness models was there, were few models with a higher brightness and good resolution, and the few were too much expensive. But since the last years, the technology has changed, making some progress, allowing more companies to develop higher brightness monitors while preserving a high resolution such as Full HD. Examples are Small HD 702 Bright, Atomos Shogun and more recently, but all of these models still have a big price tag, from 1500€ to 3995€.
