Italy’s Nexo Digital and Rupert Murdoch’s Sky paybox are giving Florence’s storied Uffizi Gallery the 3D treatment with a documentary that segues from their “Vatican Museums 3D,” which was beamed to 2,000 screens across 60 countries and also aired on Sky.

Nexo is kicking off sales on “Florence and the Uffizi Gallery 3D/4k” in Cannes; shooting in 6K on the art docu will start in Florence May 18.

The project, produced in collaboration with Magnitudo Film, is being touted as a multidimensional, multisensory way to discover the leading figures of the Italian Renaissance and the Uffizi Gallery. Leonardo da Vinci’s “Adoration of the Magi” will be unveiled in the 3D docu for the first time, after years of restoration work, they say.
