View-Vaster™ Quick View!

Over the weekend, Ken discovered that you can transfer pictures from your Fuji 3D camera directly to the Android cell phone you are using in your View-Vaster™ without first having to transfer them to a computer for processing. In addition, a phone application called “3DSteroidPro,” can be used to crop images and to set the stereo window. The application can also be used to precision align the right and left images.

Modern Android phones support using external storage in the form of USB memory sticks, however, most phones do not have a dedicated “slot” for connecting these devices. Instead, external memory is connected to the phone using the phone’s USB port. The cell phone’s USB port can be used in “peripheral mode,” to connect the phone to a computer or in “Host mode” to connect memory, also called “USB OTG” (On the Go).

So far we’ve tested this “Quick View” process with a Fuji W3. In theory, it should work with other 3D cameras and camcorders but we have yet to test others.
