Watch USC at Ohio State Game in 3D

Today, ESPN will be announcing that USC at Ohio State football game will have a limited showing in 3D this September 12.

USC at Ohio State game in 3D will be viewed at the Galen Center in Los Angeles and at ESPN Zone  at LA Live, at a theater in Columbus, Ohio; Hartford, Conn. (for inviteees of ESPN only) and Hurst, Texas.

The ESPN’s vice president for emerging technology, Anthony Bailey, said that Texas site was chosen to try how a 3-D broadcast would do in a place unassociated with either team playing.

There would be no tickets for sale for any of  the selected “USC at Ohio State game in 3D” viewing sites.

San Diego Chargers-Oakland Raiders, the game between Florida and Oklahoma were two of the games shown in 3D last season.

ESPN, as said by Bailey, will be utilizing its own camera and production crews and a separate announcing crew. 3d telecasts by Mark Jones and Bob Davie, ESPN telecasts by Brent Musburger, Kirk Herstreit and reporter Lisa Salters.

“The goal of the production is to learn more,” Bailey said. “We want to bring in people without charge and find out if they would want to watch more football this way.”1
