1.8 Million US dollars for Upgrading Screens to 3D

SF Cinema City Co will allot 1.8 million US dollars (60 million Thai baht) to upgrade some of its screens to 3D at its 12 cineplexes by year-end.

“The reason why we are eager to install more 3D theatres in both Bangkok and major provinces is to serve high movie demand in the coming high season near the year-end,” Managing director Suvit Thongrompo said.

With the opening of more 3D cinemas, SF is confident that its income target of 2.2 billion baht, up 10% from last year, will be achieved by the end of this year. As well, stunning 3D movies – Avatar, A Christmas Carol, G-Force and Final Destination – will arrive on local screens in the fourth quarter. Next year, about 20 new 3D movies will be shown.

Apart from the 3D theatres, SF also has some plans to develop three new cinema complexes.
