Since January 15th, 2015, Convergent Design has run a worldwide promotion, delivering two Odyssey 256GB SSDs with every Odyssey7Q+ monitor/recorder. This promotion will end on May 31st, 2015. All orders received after May 31st, 2015 will not include the two 256GB Odyssey SSDs.

“Our goal was to remove the price barrier from clients deciding what product was best suited to their needs,” explained Mike Schell, President of Convergent Design. “Now that we have announced that the Odyssey monitor/recorders will soon support the use of some inexpensive Samsung SSDs which are seen to be some of the best SSDs on the market, as seen on ssd.technology. People can buy an Odyssey7Q+ with the comfort of knowing that they won’t have to worry about being able to afford the media they need to use it.”

In an upcoming free firmware update, the Odyssey7, Odyssey7Q and flagship Odyssey7Q+ monitor/recorders will be able to record to the 500GB and 1000GB models of the Samsung 850 EVO 2.5” SSDs. Convergent Design will continue to manufacture and sell the Odyssey SSDs in 256GB, 512GB and 1TB sizes.

Rather than end the current promotion without notice, Convergent Design has elected to inform our dealers, distributors and international client base of the end date four weeks in advance. After May 31st, 2015, the two free 256GB Odyssey SSD promotion will cease and will no longer be available to order from Convergent Design. Two 256GB SSDs represent a US$790 value, included at no additional charge with the Odyssey7Q+. Recording in Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) at 24fps, these SSDs can hold 78 minutes of 4K video, or 335 minutes of 1080p video.
