Any 3D guy who have never heard of Yabazam yet is missing not just ‘zaaammm’ 3D but a lot! Yabazam… probably the best 3D in the universe?
3D TV has failed to live up to the expectations of its manufacturers and one of the reasons for this can be attributed to the lack of adequate 3D content to be viewed on the 3D TVs. Yabazam 3D VOD service can be considered an attempt to fill the void though the subscription service is currently limited to restricted markets and specific TV models.
Jay Wiskerchen, VP Content Services for DD USA has provided us with an insight of how they wish to see the service grow in the coming months while speaking to 3DTV. Yabazam is the world’s first VOD service that offers 3D content to 3D TV owners. The service is currently available only on 3D TVs from LG andSamsung which Jay Wiskerchen explained is due to these two companies making up for around 50 percent of worldwide 3D TV sales. However, he also held out hope for those opting to buy 3D TVs from other manufacturers as the service is planned to be extended on two other 3D TVs as well by the first half of 2013.
The Yabazam 3D VOD service is available in US, UK, Germany, Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan with eight more countries — Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands and Spain added to the list recently. Efforts are also on to make the service available in more regions of the world.
