The 1983 cult science fiction film starring Jeffrey Byron, Michael Preston, Tim Thomerson, Kelly Preston and Richard Moll. It was directed and produced by Charles Band who is possibly better known for his other, rather low-budget science fiction and horror films such as the Puppet Master and Trancers series. The story is a space-age western which combines themes of esoteric sorcery and high technology. Metalstorm was filmed in 3D.

Perhaps more importantly to 3d Filmmakers is the rich history of 3D visual effects. On Sunday afternoon, October 30, the 3-D movieMetalstorm will be screened at the Downtown Independent Theater.

My good friend, John A. Rupkalvis, 3D Wizard told me, “I had worked on that movie, having done the claymation, close-ups, rotoscoping, and special effects.  I will be hosting a Q & A at that screening.”

He is a wonderful speaker with a vast knowledge of 3D technical facts and history. I urge those who can, to attend.
