3D makes way as talk turns to 4K

 

4K – or ultra high definition TV – is at least one of the next big things in TV technology. That’s what you can say after attending this years NAB Show. And… that 3D probably is not.

 

Although NAB 2013 was a tour de force of 4K bliss, 3D has fairly made an impressive demonstration.  Dolby, Philips Electronics and the Cameron-Pace Group’s stunning LIFE OF PI display on a 70″ glasses-free 3D screen was just amazing! The showcase wowed delegate after delegate, raising questions about a possible second coming for 3DTV. In addition, an ultra-high definition demonstration by Japan’s NHK network, in 8K, looked so three dimensional that a future convergence of ultra-HDTV and 3D not only seemed possible, but plausible.
