Virtalis, one of the world’s foremost Virtual Reality (VR) and Advanced Visualization companies, has won Best in Show at PTC Live Global for the second year running for its ActiveMove Technology in 2013 and now in 2014 for its innovative deployment of ActiveDesk. Virtalis ActiveDesk is a combination of Virtalis’ 3D virtual reality software, Visionary Render, the zSpace desktop system or the Oculus Rift. ActiveDesk has been designed to have all the tools capable of bringing stereoscopic, interactive 3D visualization to the desktop.
Writing in CAD Insider, Roopinder Tara of Tenlinks, observed that the ActiveDesk with zSpace, “appears to be an oversized iPad, a wired stylus and not-very-obtrusive glasses, to create a holographic image. Of course, you do have to give up the 1:1 scale provided by Virtalis flagship products but also downsized is the price. Starting at $33,000, this device suddenly makes Virtual Reality far more approachable for engineers and designers.”
“Visionary Render is a system that can cope with the most complex data and render it in 3D stereo. By adding networking for interactive, multi-disciplinary design reviews it enhances the training experience.” explained Andrew Connell, technical director at Virtalis. “Additionally, zSpace functionality further extends Visionary Render’s practical usability, by making it as applicable for the desktop as it is for the VR suite.”
Paul Ewing, Virtalis’ Vice President North American Operations, explained: “Virtalis is a PTC® PartnerAdvantage™ Gold Partner. Visionary Render software is being offered to PTC users worldwide as part of our worldwide referral agreement. PTC Creo users are able to view their CAD models in 3D thanks to our VR Extension for PTC Creo View.”
