NanoTech Rolls Out Android™ KitKat® for the Nuvola 4K Ultra HD Streaming Media Player
Nuvola NP-1 is the only 4K Ultra HD Media Player to Pass Google CTS Certification Testing
SAN JOSE, CA – June 20, 2014 – NanoTech Entertainment (OTCPINK: NTEK), a pioneer in bringing the 4K Ultra HD experience to consumers, announced today that its award-winning Nuvola NP-1™ 4K Ultra HD streaming media player for consumers has passed the Google CTS (Compatibility Test Suite) certification tests paving the way for shipments of the NP-1 on the latest Google OS.
NanoTech’s Nuvola NP-1 is the first 4K Ultra HD streaming media player to pass the stringent tests in the Android compatibility test suite. CTS Certification allows user’s access to Google’s library apps available in the Google Play Store and ensures the integrity of the device.
NanoTech partners that bundle the Nuvola NP-1 with their TVs and other devices will also benefit by providing their customers with access to a broad range of rich, immersive entertainment experiences while ensuring their secure delivery.
“We’re very pleased and proud that the Nuvola NP-1 has passed the Google CTS certification testing,” said Aaron Taylor, NanoTech’s Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing.
“This is a major milestone for the product because our customers need to be confident that their source is authorized for downloading and using all the cool apps, video, games, etc. in the Google Play Store. We sacrificed earlier shipping dates so we could include several new features in our device, all built upon the Android 4.4 (KitKat) OS. Consumer satisfaction is our top priority.”
“Android 4.4 takes system performance to an all-time high by optimizing memory,” Taylor noted. “Combined with the proprietary performance enhancements NanoTech has added, the Nuvola is the fastest Tegra device in the market.”
The new OS also enabled NanoTech to make the Nuvola more convenient. With the new Android 4.4 OS, the Nuvola is the only device of its kind that has all the proper video modes available for the US, Asia and Europe (720p, 1080p and 2160p at 24Hz, 25Hz, and 30Hz, etc.). Version 4.4 also provides improved memory management, a reduced memory footprint and enhanced security. In addition, applications that embed web content can now use Chrome to render web components accurately and quickly. And with built-in support for cloud storage solutions such as Google Drive, Nuvola users can open files directly from the cloud, without having to first download them.
The Nuvola NP-1 is a multifunction device that can be used to decode a variety of video formats and resolutions including 4K Ultra HD, HD, SD and 3D movies as well as for playback of state-of-the-art 3D Video games. Now upgraded to the Android 4.4 (KitKat) Operating System, the Nuvola can operate hundreds of thousands of existing apps. With support for the Tegrazone and the Ouya game library, users can enjoy a gaming experience optimized for large-screen TVs. The Nuvola can also stream content from a variety of sources, including the bundled UltraFlix™ UHD channel with the world’s largest library of streaming 4K VOD content; and other applications that come pre-installed such as Netflix, Hulu Plus and YouTube.

Nuvola NP-1, the world’s first consumer streaming media player that supports 4K Ultra HD content, is currently in production and available for $299. Measuring just 4 inches by 4 inches, the multifunction set top box comes with an ergonomically designed second-generation Bluetooth remote as well as over fifty video, audio, social media, communications applications and games pre-installed.
