In a move that will fill your family’s hearts with joy and the Disney executives pockets with money, it has been announced that Disney’s 1994 ‘The Lion King’ will be in theaters for a limited 3D run this fall.
Disney’s smash 1994 animated feature “The Lion King” will return to theaters for a limited run in 3D this fall. The studio has confirmed that the new 3D rendering of the film will hit theaters across the U.S. on September 16.
The announcement comes six months after Disney revealed that it would release Blu-ray/3D versions of not only “The Lion King” but also “Beauty and the Beast” and “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”
Disney scored huge successes previously with the 3D re-release of both “Toy Story” and “Toy Story 2.” The 3D version of “Toy Story” raked in $65 million for Disney last year and helped set the stage for their massively successful “Toy Story 3” release.
The new 3D version of “The Lion King” will mark the first theatrical 3D release for a hand-drawn Disney animated feature.
