Iron Man 3 in 4DX

My family and I added to the “$680  million and growing” box office this past weekend.

What’s more, we did 3D one better, we went 4DX!

I must say if ever there was a movie that was made for this augmented reality trip, it is this movie. A fantastic follow up to The Avengers and an impressive beginning to phase 2 of the Marvel Universe ala Disney.

4DX is growing in popularity. It was developed by the South Korean multiplex cinema chain CJ CGV by the  CJ group. It adds environmental effects such as motion, odors, and humidity beside the 3D video and audio. The theater must be specially equipped in order to handle these effects with motion controlled seats, jets of air or water, mist, strobe lighting, smoke, even in some cases aromatic vapors and bubbles.

While Tony Stark and crew weren’t blowing any bubbles there was plenty of rock ‘n roll action that worked beautifully with the 3D in the movie.

In Japan, Iron Man 3 was the first film to play in 4DX.

From IMDb, *Marvel’s “Iron Man 3” pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man? (*Written by Jawadjee)

Whether it’s Shawn Black’s direction and scripting or Robert Downey Jr., settling in to a comfortable place as a man on the edge, the film is a bonafide Blockbuster with a capital ‘B’.

The numbers aren’t up online for how the film is performing in 3D vs. 2D, but it’s a safe bet that once again the clown journalist’s pronouncements that 3D is waning is another pile of you know what.
Hey guys, get on the train, cause it’s leaving you in the past. Right where your “naysaying” puts you!

Hey, 3D fans, hold on cause the the 3D Bullet Train is on track for an unbelievable summer with Star Trek Into Darkness, The Great Gatsby, Epic, The Man of Steel, Monster University, Despicable Me 2, Pacific Rim and Smurfs 2.
