Xiaomi, a Chinese manufacturer, today revealed a sweets surprise! A 49-inch Android-based smart TV for just $640!
Potential bargain — at least for shoppers in the Far East.
The MI TV 2 4K TV set comes with a few nice goodies. Most notably, it has a Bluetooth LE remote instead of the old infrared version, and should you lose it in your room, you can even tap the bottom of the TV to make the remote beep. Alternatively, you can also install the remote app on your phone, with which you can use gestures and voice to control the TV, as well as read up related info — some of which comes from IMDB — about the show you’re watching.
Then again, it’s worth remembering that you can already pick up a 4K TV in the US for the same money, albeit probably not one that runs Android, or that could be fairly described as being “ smart.” TCL’s 50-inch 4K set currently fetches around $650 on Amazon, while $700 will get you a similarly-sized Seiki. Spending up to $1,000, meanwhile, could get you a slightly more established brand like Vizio — although that manufacturer’s much-hyped wares don’t seem to be available just yet.
