Samsung Mobile Display continues to stay in the forefront of digital screens with an interesting display solution in the works, one that can fit into any environment and compensate for curves, corners and any other architechtural challlenges. One that makes 3D movies really jump off the screen.
SMD believe that the future of Television will be flexible and foldable. The idea is a foldable 3D-OLED-Tv,so you can enjoy your 3D content everywhere and not only in your living room. They are giving it a 5-10 year timeframe to hit the shelves.
SMD demonstrated a prototype of a high resolution, bending, FOLDED screen at the FPD-International-2010.
This concept certainly adds to the movement towards a complete immersive experience. We don’t want to just see it with our eyes, we want to almost live in our content. Maybe, this is what 3D needs. A foldable 3D effect that leaps off the screen certainly beats wearing 3D glasses any day.
