June 13, 2013 (Los Angeles) – On the heels of a record-breaking 3D movie box office in May, the International 3D Society and the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) today announced a partnership to demonstrate the latest 3D content available for 3DTV’s.
“‘Iron Man 3,’ ‘Star Trek: Into Darkness,’ ‘The Great Gatsby,’ and ‘EPIC’ generated almost 2 billion dollars in worldwide ticket sales in May alone,” said Society President, Jim Chabin. “This weekend, millions of fans will be lining up to see the fantastic new Superman movie, ‘Man of Steel.’ This summer will be the biggest 3D summer ever,” he added.

The Society will showcase 3D content on 3DTV flat screens at more than 125 CEA member retailers across the U.S. Consumers will see exclusive clips from 3net Studios, DreamWorks Animation (DWA), Paramount, Sony, and streaming apps Yabazam!, and 3doo. ‘Demo Days’ will take place June 21-23, and June 28-30.

“CEA Demo Days is an excellent opportunity for consumers to learn about the latest technologies, such as 3DTV,” said Kerry Moyer, senior director of member relations, CEA. “During Demo Days, they can experience the excitement of 3D at a retailer before bringing it home.”

This Fall, consumers with 3DTV’s will be able to rediscover perhaps the most beloved movie of all time, as ‘The Wizard of OZ’ is re-released on Blu-Ray, restored and re-created in 3D. This year’s ‘OZ: the Great and Powerful’ in 3D has generated more than 500 million dollars in worldwide box office revenues. Both ‘OZ’ movies will be available on Blu-Ray, in 3D, this year.

In addition, more than 50 3D Blu-Ray titles have been announced (as of June 1st) for 2013 U.S. releases, including: ‘Life of Pi,’ ‘The Little Mermaid,’ ‘The Hobbit,’ ‘Wreck It Ralph,’ ‘Cirque Du Soleil,’ and the classic horror 3D film ‘Creature From the Black Lagoon.’ More than 200 3D Blu-Ray titles have been released since 2010.
“3D is a premium experience,” said Chabin. “Whether at the movie theatre or in your home, watching your favorite blockbuster movies or documentaries in 3D with your friends and family transports you in a thrilling and exciting way,” he added.

Panasonic, Samsung, Sony, and VIZIO 3DTV’s will be featured in the demonstrations. For more information, and to find participating retailers, visit www.ceademodays.com
