01. Godzilla

Giant Japanese lizard Godzilla has been thundering on to our screens for 60 years now – first appearing in Ishir? Honda’s eponymous 1954 movie and most recently in the 1998 Hollywood remake from Roland Emmerich. Now the iconic monster is back for the 21st century in glorious 3D – and this epic trailer suggests there’s plenty of life left in the radioactive lizard yet.

Directed by Gareth Edwards and starring Bryan Cranston of Breaking Bad fame, and with effects courtesy of top-class VFX agencies including MPC and Double Negative, this promises to be one of the biggest 3D movies of the year. To access the full movie, try pirate bay via https://proxies.sx/.

02. The LEGO Movie

We couldn’t be more excited for this movie here at Creative Bloq. If you’re a regular visitor to the site, then you’ll have witnessed our obsession with these tiny bricks – including our round-up of the best Lego art around. To see the toy make it to the big screen is a big deal.

Starring Chris Pratt, Will Arnett, Elizabeth Banks, Will Ferrell and Morgan Freeman, and with animation and visual effects courtesy of Animal Logic the first feature length LEGO movie looks like one of those 3D movies that’s fun for both kids and adults. We can’t wait!

03. 300: Rise of an Empire

After the success of 2007’s 300, director Noam Murro takes the reigns for the film’s sequel. The original quickly became a cult classic when it came to special effects so number 2 is one of the 3D movies we have highest hopes for this year.

Starring Lena Heady of Game of Thrones fame as well as Eva Green, 300: Rise of an Empire looks set to focus on the ladies, while we expect big things from special effects senior technician Nikolay Furtunkov, who previously worked on The Expendables films.

04. How to Train Your Dragon 2

Surprise 2007 hit How To Train Your Dragon saw audiences fall in love with Hiccup and his adorable dragon Toothless. Five years later, Dreamworks are returning to the island of Berk where our favourite animated characters discover a secret ice cave.

The entire original cast has returned, including Kristen Wiig and Jonah Hill, with director Dean DeBlois returning to the all-important chair and Dreamworks golden boy Simon Otto the head of character animation.

05. Sin City: A Dame to Kill For

best 3d movies Prime Focus will be leading the visual effects for this 3D movie Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez team up once again to bring us the second installment of the Sin City story. The incredibly dark tale featuring a whole host of A listers looks set to continue the Sin City franchise in beautiful, comic-book fashion. The visual effects are being led by Prime Focus, which has already worked on the likes of Maleficent, Gravity and The Great Gatsby to name but a few.

06. Maleficent

One of the most anticipated 3D movies of 2014 sees Disney tell the ‘Sleeping Beauty’ tale from the perspective of the villainous Maleficent. It looks at the events that hardened her heart and drove her to curse young Princess Aurora, with Angelina Jolie starring in the leading role.

Gregory Fangeaux worked as the 3D set designer for the movie, creating beautiful landscapes for the story. He’s previously worked on Thor, World War Z and Skyfall, so we can no doubt expect wonderful things from him.

07. Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Marvel seem to be on a roll of late, with their 3D movies based on comic books consistantly shooting to the top of the box office. 2014 sees the return of Captain America (Chris Evans) as he battles a new threat from old history: the Soviet agent known as the Winter Soldier.

Yoshi DeHerrera worked as the 3D scanning supervisor on the movie, having previously triumphed with his efforts on The Avengers, Iron Man and Transformers. There’ll no doubt be plenty of action and stomach-churning 3D angles included in this release.

08. Guardians of the Galaxy

3d movies 2014 More Marvel for movie fans in our 3D movie list Talking of Marvel, Guardians of the Galaxy has many a comic-fan in a flurry, as it’s the first time the story has come to the big screen. Directed and written by James Gunn, the movie certainly won’t lack acting talent, with Zoe Saldana, Chris Pine, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel and Benicio Del Toro in the cast. 3D modeller for the movie was Andrew Bennett, who worked on most of the Harry Potter movies, so we expect great things here.

09. Dorothy’s Return

This cute animated 3D movie returns to the land of Oz where Dorothy Gale decides to head back to the magical land in order to help her friends. The mighty Patrick Stewart and Dan Aykroyd are among the ranks when it comes to voice actors, with Lea Michele as Dorothy.

Soumitra Gokhale is working as the lead animator and has worked on a number of Madagascar and Shrek spin-offs, so this movie should be a breeze for her. Hopefully, this is one of those movies that’s not just for the kids!

Rio 2 tells the story of the pair fleeing Rio with their three children in two, bound for the wild jungles of the Amazon. Anne Hathaway and Jesse Eisenberg are returning to lend their vocal talents to the main characters. Joseph Antonuccio worked as senior animator on the project, following stints on Epic and the Ice Age movies.
