It’s no surprise that ESPN 3D is going off the air. Yes, it’s sad for those of us who want to see 3D TV grow, but no real surprise.
We could talk about the “why”.
Maybe the TV manufacturers who made too many different designs all hoping to be THE King of the 3D world. All ignoring the fact that they were confusing their buyers which resulted in many who were frozen into indecision.
We could talk about the media in the US who by and large decided that 3D TV was going to be their favorite punching bag.
But when all is said and done it comes down to Americans not embracing this technology in their home.
Why? After all, they flock to the movie theaters to see 3D movies, but don’t want to wear 3D glasses at home?
Content? Well it could be that the qualifying game of The Little League World Series just isn’t the big draw that the execs at ESPN thought it would be.
As a 3D content creator myself who is still enjoying brisk sales around the rest of the world. I guess all those Koreans, Chinese and Europeans don’t mind wearing silly glasses at home.
