Go Pro Protune Upgrade Part One
For those that you that have been waiting for the new Go Pro Protune upgrade part one has arrived today.
I say part one because the upgrade that arrived today only gave us half of what we’ve been waiting for. This upgrade for the Go Pro Cineform Studio along with an upgrade for the Hero 2 firmware. The main feature in this firmware upgrade enabled a device window option in the software for the WiFi Bac for the Hero 2. This will also be the way you upgrade the firmware for your Hero 2 from now on.
And while the 3DGuy was very excited to see the Wi-Fi back in its capabilities I’m afraid I was also disappointed NAB when I found out that there was no 3-D version at this time. I did some initial testing with the software and it lives up to everything promised at NAB. Protune gives you the ability to set a LUT (Look Up Table) with a quick click of a selection.
The LUT allows you to see a certain ‘look’ that you want to give your video. In all there are 40 different LUT’s to choose from and you can create your own stylized LUT as well. Protune was developed in partnership with Technicolor. The conversion process to take the video shot at 59.94i down to 23.976 was smooth and the results jitter free. All in all an excellent first half, I will be anxiously awaiting the second half.
