Sony just unveiled the first firmware update for the new PXW – Z 100 4K Ultra HD camera. Well this isn’t the big firmware upgrade that Sony talked about when it released camera, it is nonetheless a significant upgrade.
First Sony has introduced a patch that allows the HDMI output from the camera to be able to be viewed in 4K Ultra HD on other manufacturers UHD TVs. This is an important step as it shows that UHD TVs adoption is growing and that compatibility is a major issue. Before this firmware release, the camera would only output HD resolution to HD or UHD TVs.
More importantly, this upgrade gives you a wider range of choices in “Slow and Quick Mode”. Shutter speeds now go from 1/4 all the way up to 1/9000.
