Panasonic may be best known for its many TVs, but it has been maintaining a visible presence in the projector market as well, where it has actually released what it calls its first first Full HD 3D home theater projector with 1080p (1,920 x 1,080 pixel) resolution.
LCDs and Plasma screens are all well and good, but there are certain factors that may work against the decision to buy one of higher than average size.
The price is, obviously, one of the issues, while others are difficulties in regards to integrating the product in a room.
Basically, large HDTVs and the like aren’t suited for every household, but there is a certain type of electronic that can substitute just fine for the lack of a large format display.
Basically, one need only have a nice, large patch of wall handy and a projector will handle the rest.
It so happens that Panasonic completed this very sort of product not long ago, one bearing the name of PT-AE7000U and featuring support for the 1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution.
In addition to being its maker’s first such invention, it is said to also be the world’s first to use transparent LCD panels driven at 480 Hz.
It also has three HDMI ports, meaning that multiple HD sources can be hooked to it at once, while the newly-developed optical engine produces images with brightness of 2,000 lumens and contrast ratio of 300,000:1.
All in all, immersive 2D and 3D media should be easy to render, though users will only be able to bask in this supposed greatness starting next month (September, 2011) and at the cost of $3,499.00.
“When we create our projectors, our goal is to produce images that mirror movie directors’ artistic vision and intent,” said Art Rankin, director of Projectors and Higher Education Sector at Panasonic Solutions Company.
“The PT-AE7000U’s key 3D projection technologies were developed in collaboration with Panasonic Hollywood Laboratory engineers who are heavily engaged in the authoring and mastering of 3D Blu-ray Discs. They have taken key roles in establishing the industry standards for 3D and bringing the experience from large screens to homes. Through this joint effort, the PT-AE7000U has been redesigned from the ground up to achieve higher basic 2D performance and is packed with unique 3D features to deliver studio-grade 3D content to the consumer.”
