Google has been surprising us lately with their forward thinking towards 3D technology on their site and they’ve got one more great 3D thing going on now.
Google Maps’ regular 2D view is considered actually a one up from regular map sites with its visual pictures, but Google has now decided to take it one step further. The folks at Google that 3D could help people familiarize themselves better with their surroundings and have taken it upon themselves to upgrade it.
Google announced this week on its official Google Maps site the launch of its 3D route preview. Users now have the option to see how a route looks like in 3D by clicking the 3D play button available on Google Maps for the web. The map will switch to Earth view and automatically start flying you along your recommended route. Once you’re done with the 3D view, you can simply click 2D to go back to the regular view.
Now that is an immediate 3D improvement to help the masses that Google has pushed for and will definitely make a huge impact with Goolge users.
