Grass Valley Enhances EDIUS Neo Editing Platform with New Features Targeting Broader Customer Base

San Francisco, Calif., September 03, 2012 — Grass Valley® is making the unique real-time editing capabilities of its EDIUS® multiformat nonlinear editing software available to a wider audience with the introduction of version 3.5 of EDIUS Neo. Grass Valley EDIUS Neo 3.5 includes the ability to natively work with images shot with Canon DSLR cameras, as well as to stabilize shaky footage and easily edit stereoscopic 3D content—features typically found on more costly editing packages.

EDIUS Neo 3.5 is a sub-set of the latest EDIUS Pro 6.5 NLE package and is specifically designed for prosumers, video enthusiasts, and education markets; where ease of use, pristine image quality, high-power signal processing, and the ability to edit mixed format files on the same timeline are critical to project success. Users can also deliver their finished work to the web and DVD/Blu-ray disk. Video formats supported include: AVCHD (2.0), MPEG-2, HDV, DV, Windows Media, QuickTime – all file types that these markets are very familiar with.

“There is a wide user base that could really benefit from the professional tools found on the EDIUS platform but can’t afford the full Pro version, so Neo 3.5 software is exactly what they have been asking for,” said Charlie Dunn, Executive Vice President of Products at Grass Valley. “The scalability of the EDIUS platform has allowed Grass Valley to bring more targeted editing solutions to a wider range of users. We think a whole new generation of video enthusiasts will be able to create some fantastic video.”

Among the new features of EDIUS Neo 3.5:

Export sequences with alpha channel
3D (stereoscopic) editing
AVCHD 2.0 support
EOS movie support (including ALL-I and IPB)
Camera RAW still format support
Filmstrip view in Timeline
Enhanced video layouter (drop shadow, resize quality)
Built-in shake stabilizer
720p Blu-ray authoring support
Flash F4V export
QuickTime HQ/HQX codec (Windows/Mac)

Pricing and Availability
Grass Valley Neo 3.5 will be available in September 2012 for a list price of $199. Existing Grass Valley Neo 3.0 users can upgrade to the new version for $99.
