Legendary electronic instrument manufacturer Korg this week unveiled the Korg Gadget-VR, a new music-making app for VR headsets that allows you access to a range of professional synthesizers, electronic keyboards, and software in a virtual studio settings.
The video, released as part of the companies future product preview, shows a user interacting with an assortment of electronic instruments within a dedicated virtual space.
At one point we can spot a catalog of popular synths also featured in the KORG Gadget 2 app, including the Kingston Polyphonic Chip Synthesizer, Brussels Monophonic Anthem Synthesizer, Amsterdam PCM SFX Boombox, Helsinki Polyphonic Ambient Synthesizer, and Tokyo Analog Percussion Synthesizer just to name a few.
Other than that there’s very little information available at the moment. We’ve yet to receive any news regarding which headsets will receive support, although you can clearly see an Oculus Quest 2 headset at the very beginning of the video. Whether the app will be released on PC VR headsets or PSVR remains to be seen.
According to the video, Korg GADGET-VR was developed in collaboration with Detune using the Unreal Engine and is expected to launch sometime later this year.
Those interested in VR synthesizers will definitely want to check out SynthVR, a unique VR patching experience featuring a wide variety of complex modular synthesizers. You can pick up this app for free on the Oculus Quest and Oculus Quest 2 via SideQuest.
