NAB 2013 Booth SL10711 –  Levels Beyond, creators of Reach Engine, a software platform providing streamlined media-management, distribution, optimization and monetization capabilities for video, today announced the appointment of media veteran Nick Rhodes as president and chief operating officer.

Nick Rhodes is widely respected for his guiding roles in several major business start-ups and is known for his ability to develop corporate growth strategies. He joined Levels Beyond recently as the Denver-based company establishes its Santa Monica office, after consulting for the company more than a year on marketing strategy and business plans to help secure private-equity funding—which was achieved in December 2012.

“It’s of immense importance to the future growth of Levels Beyond that we can rely on the experience and savvy of such an established business executive as Nick,” said Art Raymond, CEO of Levels Beyond. “We look forward to tapping into that expertise as we spread the word of the Reach Engine system from coast to coast and abroad.“

The Santa Monica office opening follows Levels Beyond’s opening of an office in London recently as a base for its European expansion.

“Our goal is simple—to expand the usage of Reach Engine and grow revenue,” Rhodes said. “There is a global market for Reach Engine, but our strategy will be scaling up individual sectors where we already have a successful install. We will be very focused market by market. I’m thrilled to take an operating role an exciting time in the company’s growth trajectory.”

Rhodes previously worked in TV programming and channel development in lead executive roles with four different 24-hour TV programming services, five specialty online sites and two satellite radio networks. Rhodes also has been part of senior management teams that created regional sports-television networks, interactive sports television channels and the first Spanish-language sports network in North America, La Cadena Deportiva.

He was part of the growth-management team at Prime Ticket, and joined Roger Werner as the first executive employee to build Speedvision and OLN. Prime Ticket (under its rebranded name Prime Sports) and Speedvision (renamed Speed) were acquired by News Corp., and OLN (Outdoor Life Network) was sold to Comcast, where it has undergone name changes and now is NBC Sports Network. He was responsible for developing the networks’ content strategies, supervising market acquisitions, negotiating operating agreements, driving concept analysis and evaluating the financial feasibility of media ventures.

Rhodes is a graduate of the University of Iowa, with a degree in broadcasting and film. He is a member of the school’s President’s Club and has served on the advisory board of the College of Liberal Arts.
