As well as releasing the 4K Varicam 35, HD Varicam HS and super light AJ-PX800G 3MOS cameras now, Panasonic will soon launch the Control Assist Camera, AW-HEA10, a new remote camera accessory that allows camera navigation through a tablet device. Used to quickly establish remote camera control, the user taps on the tablet screen where they want the camera to point.

The purpose of the system is to speed up long, remote camera movements, and it works in collaboration with a joystick control, which can then be used to make small adjustments to the remote camera’s position. By using a tap approach, robotic cameras like Panasonic’s AW-HE can be made easier and more natural to use by non-technical operators. Action is less likely to be missed by slow camera control and the IP image transmission function lets the user roam with a tablet device, seeing areas out of view from the robotic cameras.
