Sharp Outs Giant 8K Glasses-Free 3D TV!

5-inch Sharp 3D glasses-free 8K TV announced at CES 2014

On January 6, 2014, Sharp held a press conference in Las Vegas, U.S.A. prior to the commencement of the 2014 International CES* (January 7 to 10).

Toshiyuki Osawa, CEO & Chairman of Sharp Electronics Corporation (SEC) and Sharp Corporation Executive Officer, explained that Sharp’s LCDs are applied in various products throughout the industry, answering the demands of customers worldwide. For 2014, Sharp will continue to pursue the innovation of LCD display technology centering with its Quattron and IGZO technology.

Sharp Electronics Marketing Company of America (SEMCA) President John Herrington followed by introducing the 2014 new AQUOS lineup for the US market. Especially, the “Quattron+” realizing 4K image experience with a full HD product was featured using demo movies etc. Sharp’s display technology led by Quattron technology, and four new product lineups ranging from full HD to 4K, consisted by 60/70/80/90-inch class size LCD TVs will be introduced to meet the growing demands for “high picture quality” and “big screen” in the US market.

SEMCA Senior Vice President Jim Sanduski went into the specific features of the new AQUOS products lineup which will be introduced to the US market from January 2014 and on.

Meanwhile, Sharp has started showcasing an 85-inch 8K TV prototype capable of delivering a glasses-free 3D (autostereoscopic) viewing experience. The groundbreaking display has been developed in partnership with Philips and Dolby.
