Outstanding Home Entertainment
In addition to supporting native 4K resolution, all of the latest Sony X950B Series models incorporate advanced technology for the best picture quality possible from the current 4K Ultra HD standard.
This includes Sony’s X-tended Dynamic Range PRO to achieve a much higher dynamic range of brightness¹, with higher peaks and deeper blacks, using a unique backlighting algorithm to further enhance picture quality.
Additionally, the X950B Series employs Sony’s exclusive TRILUMINOS™ Display technology. The wide color display offers pure, bold colors. It also uses Sony’s 4K X-Reality™ PRO, which uses a combination of Sony’s unique up-scaling and super-resolution technology to offer any content in beautiful and stunning 4K resolution.
The 2014 4K Ultra HD TVs can also easily stream 4K content. The 2014 lineup of Sony’s 4K Ultra HD TVs can access new 4K content from Netflix, the world’s leading internet television network with over 40 million members in more than 40 countries worldwide. Also, Amazon customers will be able to purchase Ultra HD movies and TV episodes on Amazon Instant Video later this year. Select Ultra HD titles will also be available at no extra charge to Amazon Prime members through Prime Instant Video. Sony’s 2014 4K Ultra HD TV models and 4K Ultra HD Media Player will be able to receive this service in the United States when it becomes available.
The X950B Series TVs now feature Control over IP, as do all the 2014 X and W series TVs.
During CEDIA Expo, Sony is also demonstrating its reference standard and entry-level 4K home theater projectors. In addition to their Control over IP operation, the VPL-VW1100ES and VPL-VW600ES have been further enhanced by new calibration software, which takes full advantage of this capability, via a new PC application. Both models are also flexible enough to render native 4K images, Full HD 3D, or professional quality upscaled HD.
Sony is also highlighting its FMP-X10 second generation 4K Ultra HD media player at CEDIA, which utilizes the latest HEVC codec to download or stream 4K movies and televisions shows at up to 60 frames per second. There’s also a new user interface, along with plans to support Control over IP capability.
Later this fall, the FMP-X10 will be upgraded to work with not just Sony TVs, but virtually every 4K Ultra HD TV model that supports HDMI 2.0 connectivity and HDCP 2.2 content protection.
Finally, to “complete the picture” Sony is also launching a new line of ES receivers during CEDIA Expo. The STR-ZA3000ES, ZA2000ES and ZA1000ES have been completely redesigned, based on direct feedback from dealers and installers.
The new 110 watt per channel ZA3000ES includes six HDMI inputs and two outputs which support 4K upscaling and pass thru. Two of these inputs also support the latest HDCP protocol to insure secure 4K distribution across two different video zones. The ZA3000ES also features Control over IP capability, making it the ideal complement to the latest system integration products.
The Sony X950B Series televisions, VPL-VW1100ES and VPL-VW600ES projectors and FMP-X10 media player are currently available. The new STR-ZA3000ES, ZA2000ES and ZA1000ES will be released next month.
