Sony London Studio Chief Talks About 3D 10 Commandments

It died in the ’90s but today we learned it is being reborn: virtual reality games. Sony is taking another stab at that technology and is saying the results are surprising in a good way.

Mike Hocking, the Sony London Studio Chief, announced the news at a development conference. Sony, the gaming giant and the first company to develop a widely-successful 3D handheld game (of which I mean the Nintendo 3DS), is currently in the midst of its Virtual Reality development in the form of a head-mounted display.

The display will have twin-OLED screens that are advertised to “pull you into the game”. What they don’t tell you is if you’ll have singed eyeballs afterwards or not.

Hocking is optimistic about the technology, which I guess, gives us reason to be as well. Hocking even joked about his “3D 10 Commandments”, invented to make sure that all 3D products from Sony are top-notch and above industry-standard. In a world where video games are outselling everything else this news is actually not very surprising. In fact, why haven’t more companies done this in the last 3 years?
