3D in the Home
Consumers express a clear interest in enjoying 3D in the home, with one in three people saying they would love to receive a 3D kit for Christmas — including 3D capable TV and Blu-ray player — with approximately one in two men (45 percent) indicating they’d love to receive 3D home entertainment technology.
“It’s clear that there is a burgeoning interest in 3D at home is strong, and I’d expect that interest to continue growing as more content becomes available in this format,” noted Alastair Plumb, a film and entertainment commentator. “If consumers aren’t sure about whether or not 3D is for them, I’d suggest a visit to a local electronics shop for a hands-on a demo is a great introduction – the quality and overall experience is unbelievable.”
Survey Reveals Insights for Shoppers
Research reveals that people most enjoy receiving feature films (59 percent), followed by TV box sets (40 percent), stand-up comedy (28 percent) and family oriented content (27 percent) as Christmas gifts. And when it comes to Christmas shopping, most rely on films that have been specifically requested (41 percent), while others choose a title that has special meaning to the recipient or themselves (16 percent).
Plumb continued, “A piece of home entertainment, like a Blu-ray or DVD, can actually be one of the most thoughtful gifts you can give someone without breaking the bank — it shows you know the person and you appreciate their tastes.”
