Sculpteo and Stratasys to participate in MOST, Salone del Mobile 2013, Milan 9-14 April 2013.
Milan, Paris, Minneapolis, and Rehovot – April 8, 2013 – Following its numerous partnerships with world-renowned designers, Sculpteo is launching a new collaboration with Tom Dixon, Stratasys and Dassault Systèmes at the Milan Furniture Fair. Sculpteo already has a portfolio of partnerships with high profile designers such as Elium Studio, Jean-Louis Frechin Director of NoDesign Studio, Particule 14 and a number of other projects. For the second year running, Tom Dixon will be taking over the National Museum of Science and Technology in Milan during Milan Furniture Fair and turning it into a creative hub where Sculpteo will showcase its 3D printing service and technology provided by Stratasys, the leading manufacturer of 3D printers and materials for prototyping and production.
Sculpteo will be turning 3D files into real objects by 3D printing models at the MOST event using a Stratasys Mojo 3D Printer, which allows desktop printing of professional quality 3D prototypes. Based on Stratasys Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) Technology, the Mojo 3D Printer builds fast and accurate concept models in ABSplus thermoplastic. On Sculpteo.com the following options are available: plastic objects, metals, ceramics, coating with silver, coloured plastic or a multi coloured object made from mineral powder. Sculpteo is constantly developing its technology to print in other materials and currently has over 45 different materials available via the Sculpteo website.
During Milan Furniture Fair, Sculpteo will also partner with Dassault Systèmes and Tom Dixon for the launch of an open design contest for international designers. Tom Dixon has designed a number of interconnecting joints which can be 3D printed by Sculpteo. The idea behind the project is to encourage the online community to participate, contribute designs and to be inspired by the creativity offered by 3D printing. At the end of the contest the winner will receive an iPad, while their design will be 3D printed using Stratasys’ technology, assembled, and featured at the Maison & Objet trade show in Paris, in September.
