The launch of 4K encoders on the Videocon d2h platform marks the first ever deployment of Cisco AnyRes Live UHD encoder in the world and will be followed shortly by two more customer deployments in Asia Pacific. Powered by Cisco UCS servers, the encoders are claimed to be able to promise operators such as Videocon d2h with faster time-to-market and provide the strongest technical foundation to the 4K infrastructure.
The 4K encoder will see use in providing a step change in broadcast quality for Videocon real-time media delivery applications such as live sports and 24-hour programming. Significantly it comes during the Cricket World Cup 2015, the biggest sporting event in India and which is drawing huge audiences already.
