Tribeca Enterprises announced the distribution of the first six independent films to the UK television masses through Tribeca Films, its film distribution label, and Virgin digital TV. The Virgin Media customers will now be able to watch festival movies, never seen before in the UK, through the Tribeca Films on-demand available on digital TV. The movies championed by one of the most popular film festivals will now be available on the home screens.
The on-demand service will be available to the UK customers and film fans from April 16th 2013. From Tuesday onwards, the subscribers will be able to watch their favourite festival titles on pay-per-view basis on their Virgin digital TV.
For now, a set of six champion films will be available for on-demand service including Fresh Meat and Greetings from Tim Buckley, belonging to the current year’s festival, and Rubberneck, Monogamy, The Wild and The Wonderful Whites of West Virginia and Supporting Characters from the previous festivals. Except The Wild and The Wonderful Whites of West Virginia, all the other movies are totally new to the audiences in the UK.
According to Robert De Niro, a much admired actor and co-founder of Tribeca, the event is immensely popular among the masses of New York and several other parts of the country. This is a nice attempt to bring these championed films to the television screens of the UK households, through Virgin Media digital TV.
