“We chose Envivio as our video solutions provider based on its extensive expertise as pioneers in video processing and delivery software, as well as their support of next-generation formats and standards like 4K and HEVC,” said a Chunghwa Telecom executive in Taiwan.
“Leveraging the HEVC standard, Envivio is able to efficiently compress 4K content without losing video quality, making it easier and more affordable for us to deliver the highest quality video available to our consumers,” he added.
In the 4k streaming trial, Envivio is using its Muse Ultra HD software to support two modes of 4K HEVC delivery: video-on-demand (VOD) content delivered via unicast transfer method, and through multicast to HwaCom set-top boxes.
Envivio’s Muse Ultra HD software is designed to encode either one 4Kp60 (progressive video at 60 frames per second) or two simultaneous 4Kp30 (30 frames per second) video signals in HEVC format using the Envivio G5 server. These services can be delivered to Ultra HD-capable devices, including the latest generation of set-top boxes and Ultra HD TV sets.
