The new XPAND passive 3D systems, and glasses, follow the successful deployment of XPAND active 3D systems in 23 ABC Cinema theaters throughout the Netherlands in 2010. The first screens have already been installed in late December while the rest will be installed before the end of this year.
Paul Visser, owner and founder of ABC said: “3D is still a determining success parameter of digital cinema. XPAND’s 3D solutions offer our members and moviegoers both options i.e. either in active or in passive technology. New XPAND passive glasses procure an outstanding picture quality, and that is what it’s all about. With XPAND we can let our customers enjoy better quality, brightness, and clarity of 3D images!”

Continuing to raise the quality standard for cinematic 3D systems in the Netherlands, cinema systems integrator and service company dcinex NL (formerly FTT Filmtronics NL) is currently finalizing the installation of the 40 new passive 3D systems for ABC. The new installations are part of ABC’s continued commitment to providing state-of-the-art 3D theaters to its patrons.

“XPAND has been very supportive in bringing their new passive 3D solution to the Dutch exhibitors within the ABC group,” said Matthew Jones, General Manager of dcinex Benelux. “XPAND has always actively pursued high quality 3D and their new passive 3D system is no exception. Add in the excellent service we have enjoyed in our long standing business relationship with XPAND, and you have the two key ingredients that matter to both dcinex and our customers; high quality and great service,” added Mr. Jones.

“The XPAND team is delighted to keep working with ABC Group Cinema members who have decided to select XPAND new passive technology based on the successful cooperation in the past with XPAND”, stated XPAND CEO Maria Costeira. “ABC programmed theaters show a true determination to bring the very best in entertainment to their moviegoers, and their most recent investment in new 3D passive technology will deliver an unprecedented immersive viewing experience to their audiences.”

In December 2012, 6 brand new XPAND 3D systems were installed in Dutch theaters, while a total of 51 XPAND systems are now operational in The Netherlands.
