(3Ders.org) e-NABLE consists of about 700 people, all of whom donate their time to designing, researching, developing and prototyping 3D printable limbs designs. Jose Delgado Jr. was born without most of his left hand and had been using a prosthetic that costs $42,000. Jose recently asked e-NABLE member Jeremy Simon to help make him a new 3D printed prosthesis. Jeremy agreed, and created one using the design of the “Cyborg Beast.” After the experiment, Jose concluded that he actually prefers the 3D printed Cyborg Beast to his far more expensive myoelectric prosthesis. Jose claims that the simple, mechanical design of Cyborg Beast is more comfortable and provides more day-to-day functionality than the expensive version.
