This past July Microsoft confirmed that Microsoft Flight Sim 2020, the latest iteration of the companies legendary flight sim experience, would be receiving official VR support shortly after launch.

Interestingly enough, support would extend exclusively to the brand new HP Reverb G2 Windows Mixed Reality headset. Now it appears as though Microsoft is shifting its plans to include all PC VR headsets.

During a live Q&A hosted on Twitch this past week, developer Asobo Studio confirmed that full VR support will be exiting closed beta and arriving on all PC VR headsets, including the HTC Vive, Oculus, Valve Index, and Windows Mixed Reality, this December as part of the free “Sim Update 2.”

You can check out the full Q&A here.

“We are going to open the VR for everyone,” said Martial Bossard, Executive Producer, Asobo Studio, during the Q&A. “It will also be open to all devices, the Oculus family, Valve family, every family of headset is supported there.”

More information is expected December 17th as part of the Feature Discovery Series. VR support will arrive on PC VR headsets December 22nd 100% free-of-charge.

Sim Update 2 comes on the heels of the recent “USA World Update,” which introduced visual improvements to several US states as well as four new airports (Atlanta, Dallas/Fort Worth, Friday Harbor, and New York Stewart).

Microsoft Flight Sim 2020 is available now for $59.99.
