AMD Radeon 3D supported by Viewsonic

SCREEN MAKER Viewsonic is the first manufacturer to announce AMD Radeon 3D support, making the outfit the first to push AMD’s 3D capabilities over Nvidia’s. For a while the Green Goblin had the nascent 3D market all to itself, but with the launch of the Radeon 6000 series of GPUs AMD added 3D capabilities to the Radeon line, including support for Blu-ray 3D through the added feature of Multiview Video Coding (MVC) in UVD3. Now it seems that Viewsonic has taken the bait and released a product that uses AMD’s technology. Its V3D241wm LED display ships with 3D capability using active shutter glasses.

The LED backlit monitor runs at 120Hz, which is what is needed to run 3D. Using the included 3D glasses, the V3D241wm LED screen can display 3D games and movies without any loss of quality by taking advantage of the monitor’s 120Hz frame rate and ultra-fast 2ms response time. The LED screen has a brightness level of 300 nits and a contrast ratio of 20,000,000:1, providing a high level of detail and colour reproduction. It also has full HD 1920×1080 resolution. The stereo speakers are rated at four Watts and a USB port is included for plug-in of the included active-shutter glasses. The monitors come with HDMI, DVI and VGA connections.
