On Wednesday, October 13, SenseGlove, a developer of force and haptic feedback gloves, will announce it has begun worldwide shipping of SenseGlove Nova, a new version of haptic force-feedback gloves designed specifically for professional VR training and research purposes.
Designed to be put on in five seconds, the flexible form factor of SenseGlove Nova combines advanced haptic technologies and smooth hand tracking that enables users to feel shapes and sizes, textures, stiffness, impact, and resistance in virtual reality easier than ever before — bridging the gap between the digital and real world. View a short video of SenseGlove Nova here.
SenseGlove Nova retails for $5,000 USD for a set of two gloves — vs. up to $50K per glove for alternative solutions. Bulk orders of 10 or more Nova gloves are available at a discounted rate of $3,500 per set of gloves. Available in three different sizes, the gloves can be easily detached from the electronic part and washed as needed.
Nova is made for both durability and comfort and consists of two main parts: the soft gloves created with a smart textile material that contains antibacterial fabric and an electronic part attached to the soft gloves and produced via injection molding.
Easy-to-use and accessible haptic gloves represent a huge step forward for the VR training industry. SenseGlove Nova’s level of usability and touch-enabling technology helps to upscale all kinds of VR training programs, such as training to handle hazardous materials, carrying out complex tasks with multiple tools and objects, and learning to design and test physical prototypes.
Since the announcement of the Nova prototype at CES 2021 this past January, Nova’s production prototype has been tested and reviewed by over 200 XR professionals and has already been applied in professional training solutions.
What is 360 VR Video?
360 video is a video that is recorded in all directions at the same time with multiple cameras. The videos are stitched together either internally in the camera or externally using special software.
It then forms one spherical video that is controlled by the viewer, enabling them to look up, down, right or left at their discretion.
