Just like 3D, Ultra HD TVs might not be raking in the volumes right now but sure enough, it will make an up surge change soon.
Market research firm NPD DisplaySearch would like us to believe such a thing is going to take place within the next few years when worldwide shipment of 4K TV could top 7 million by 2016. This would mark a healthy improvement from the 50,000 units expected to ship this year.
China is being pegged to lead the race with shipments likely to touch 2.6 million by 2016 while the same in North America is expected to be 2 million by the same time.
“We’re expecting to see Chinese, Japanese and Western European consumers become the first to widely embrace 4K TV, as people in these regions generally prefer the latest products and technologies. Adoption in North America is likely to be slower, as consumers generally like to wait for prices to come down before purchasing new technology,” said NPD DisplaySearch’s director of electronics research, Paul Gray.
